At the risk of inviting the “new age hippy” whispers, I am going to answer the questions everyone has been asking since Creative Coyote began. Why coyote? What does the name mean? How’d you come up with that?

A brief backstory is the only way it will make sense, so here goes…

The Native American spiritual perspective has shaped my own spirit in many ways. I believe that all creatures are connected by a universal energy and that mother earth and father sky are the foundation. Native lore reveals animals as spirit teachers, or animal totems. Each totem has unique power and wisdom, and they seek to share with us. Totems come into our lives in many different ways, but they always offer us a lesson. Many people reject this connection and, in doing so, miss out on the gift being offered. I try embrace these links, and reach out whenever my totems appear.

Most animal totems stay with you a short time. The message is revealed, the connection is broken and the totem is gone. Mission accomplished. But there is another form of animal totem, believed to represent your twin spirit and be a lifelong teacher and friend. A ‘Life Totem’, as they are called, generally reflects your own inner spiritual nature and is always there to help you uncover yourself. I believe that the coyote is my Life Totem and my twin spirit. I have for many years.

Coyotes are adventurous, playful, humorous, creative, clever, resourceful, innovative, insightful, loyal, and, of course, mischievous. The coyote signifies the balance between wisdom and folly. Coyotes have strong ties to the pack, but often wander alone. The coyote is a survivor and often misunderstood for doing just that – surviving. So…why coyote? Coyote is me.

Basic brochure site, with a few Flash elements for added visual interest. Worked with a programmer to build a custom back end so client could make their own updates.
